Max Krauss, MCP, RCC
Hi, I’m Max! I’m a therapist based in Victoria BC, though I see people virtually from all over the province. I started my journey to become a counsellor fifteen years ago during a “dark night of the soul.” During that time, I had a career in the book industry, but realized that I wanted a career change. I spent months trying to figure out a profession that would have spiritual meaning for me, and counselling is what I realized would be an excellent fit. I have been on my own mental health journey, including many hours spent in therapy myself. When I was 17 I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, which is something that I have wrestled with my whole life. I have what we in the field call “lived experience” with many mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, mania and psychosis. It’s been a hard ride, but I’m glad to be here with you! As a counsellor, I practice an eclectic approach to therapy. I borrow from many different therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Brainspotting and Jungian Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), but my main interest is Existential Therapy. I believe that addressing the big, existential questions can bring clarity and act as a protective factor in a person’s mental health.
