Baylie McKnight, MSW, RSW, SEP
I am passionate and dedicated to supporting folks living with borderline personality disorder (BPD), complex PTSD, developmental and attachment trauma. I co-founded the BPD Society of BC in 2012 to fill in gaps in service to people living with BPD and their loved ones.
My therapeutic modalities for counselling integrate Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, and Internal Family Systems. I am comprehensively trained in DBT for individuals, groups, adolescents, and people with substance use concerns. Additionally, I am a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner experienced in supporting people living with nervous system dysregulation and complex trauma.
Using a multimodal approach to treatment and drawing on my lived experience, training, and professional knowledge, I work from a variety of frameworks, including trauma-informed practice, strengths-based, anti-oppressive, polyvagal and attachment theory.
With over 20 years of experience working in the human services field, I have had the opportunity to work in various settings in different capacities, including group homes, a women's transition house, street outreach, health authorities, non-profits, youth centres, peer support & therapy groups, and psychiatric hospitals. As a therapist who brings warmth, empathy, and validation into each session, I strongly believe in a collaborative approach. I strive to create a safe, non-judgemental, and inclusive space.
